Entryway Locker Plans

Los eurodiputados rechazan congelar sus salarios y dejar de viajar en primera

MEPs rejected the vote today in a budget report a series of amendments to the leftist groups who advocate freeze wages and reduce flights in first class.

These amendments, in order to save, had been presented to the general budget proposal for 2012 EP, which has now received full approval of Parliament.

Next year, Parliament will have a budget of 1,725 \u200b\u200bmillion euros, representing an increase of 2.3% compared to 2011, five tenths below the current rate of inflation in the EU.

MEPs have agreed to cut a session in Strasbourg (France) in September in order to save costs, but have not accepted the wage freeze, as proposed some amendments introduced by a group of MEPs of the European United Left and Greens, led by the Portuguese Miguel Portas and those who are not any English.

Amendments, 4, 13, 14 and 15 on the proposed budget called for no increase for 2012 allocations for salaries and allowances claiming that "in the current economic environment, while Europeans are experiencing freezes and reductions in wages and pensions, would be difficult to understand that MEPs will not apply the containment.

In the same vein, Amendment 4, also rejected proposed to reduce travel costs by limiting flights in first class which lasted less than 4 hours.

The 2012 budget prepared by the European People's Portuguese José Manuel Fernandes, was adopted by 479 votes in favor, 176 against and 23 abstentions.

Fernandes pointed out that, since that the increase is below inflation, PE "fairy shown signs of fiscal responsibility and self-restraint"

Still, the budget could increase because you will need to be revised when incorporated into the new 18 MEPs under the Treaty of Lisbon and the costs associated with future extensions, such as Croatia.

PE, like other EU institutions, send their estimates of revenue and expenditure to the European Commission to submit the draft EU budget for 2012 on 20 April.
